MMG operates 11 manufacturing facilities throughout New England that provide a broad range of metal fabrication, precision machining, aluminum extrusion manufacturing, custom cabling, finishing, and assembly services.

Construction is currently underway for phase two of the extrusion capacity expansion project, which will extend in-line automation to include rack movement, post extrusion aging and packaging, and add 35,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

The $23 million total investment to expand and modernize its aluminum extrusion business is a key component of MMG’s growth strategy to increase use of automation and state-of-art technologies in all its metal manufacturing locations. Currently, the company operates nine facilities with 24/7 lights-out operations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

Over the past several years, Momentum Manufacturing Group’s strategy has led to consistent organic growth and focused acquisitions. The most recent in April of this year was the acquisition of H&M Metals. Additional investments in automation technology include a major expansion in manufacturing operations at its corporate headquarters in Georgetown, MA, and a new 8-inch aluminum extrusion press in Franklin, NH, to nearly double its current extrusion capacity. Each investment has strengthened Momentum’s capacity and its end-to-end metal manufacturing solution.

The acquisition of H&M Metals is part of a continued investment and expansion strategy at MMG. For the past 6 years, the company has been strengthening its end-to-end metal manufacturing solution set through strategic acquisitions and investments in automation and leading technologies. This includes a recent investment of over $2 million to expand manufacturing operations at its corporate headquarters in Georgetown, MA and a $12 million investment in a new 8-inch aluminum extrusion press to increase the extrusion capacity at its Franklin, NH, facility.

H&M Metals has operated in Amherst since 1972, providing extensive sheet metal fabrication and value-added services and assembly to a wide variety of customers in the Northeast region. Similar to Momentum Manufacturing Group, H&M’s leadership team has invested in automation and technology to support their operations.

As a result, our existing building could no longer accommodate the value-added business growth,” said Andrew Curland, Vitex Extrusion President. “We’re fortunate this nearby facility became available, allowing us to move our machining and fabrication business into a manufacturing space that will accommodate continued growth.”

The new facility will house more than two dozen of the company’s CNC machines, dedicated work cells, deburring and punch systems. In addition, plans are underway to install robotic-based cellular production units for larger volume OEM production platforms.
