Driven to Outperform
Founded in 1986 as Jarl Extrusions, and renamed Vitex Extrusion in 2001, the company has grown to be the largest aluminum extruder in New England, serving customers throughout the Eastern U.S. During its 35 years, the company has worked with hundreds of manufacturers and OEMs across a variety of industries, including electronics, sporting goods, solar energy, fiber optics, thermal management, utilities, automotive, and building product industries.
2007: A New Era of Growth
Under new ownership, the company began rapidly expanding its extrusion operations and investing in new technologies for aluminum extrusion manufacturing, machining and fabrication. Between 2008 and 2019, over $18 million was invested in new equipment, including the installation of an 8-inch, 2,750-ton Prezessi press with Graco handling system in 2011, state-of-the-art quench system and automated profile stacking system in 2015, and automated lineal packing system in 2017.
2019: Transforming the Business
In 2019, the company was acquired by Momentum Manufacturing Group (MMG), New England’s largest metal manufacturer. The acquisition enabled Vitex to augment its downstream manufacturing capabilities with MMG’s design, machining, fabrication, surface finishing, and value-added services, effectively transforming the business into one of the largest, fully integrated aluminum extrusion manufacturers in the U.S.
2020: Expanded Capabilities
With the backing of MMG and its new moniker of MMG – Engineered Extrusions, the Franklin, NH, facility continued to expand and improve its aluminum extrusion operations. This included the 2020 acquisition of a 50,000-square-foot facility to dedicate to machining, fabrication, and assembly of aluminum extrusions. The new building is adjacent to the existing 150,000-square-foot manufacturing plant.
Investing for the Future
In 2022, a new 8-inch, 2,920-ton Prezessi extrusion press line was added to double the company’s current extrusion output to 55 million pounds. Outfitted with the latest technologies and advanced safety features, the new $14 million press line is fully automated from billet handling through to the aging operation. In 2023, we added 35,000 sq. ft. of additional manufacturing space and new equipment to complement the press line, including new aging ovens, automatic die-cleaning systems, and expanding shipping capabilities.
